When was
Raffles Design founded?
Raffles Design Institute, formerly known as Raffles LaSalle Institute, was established in Singapore in 1990 as an educational institution dedicated to the professional design disciplines of Fashion Design, Interior Design, Interactive Media Design (Multimedia Design, Animation, and Games Design), 3D Design (Product, Furniture, and Jewellery Design), Graphic Design, and Fashion Marketing (Fashion Marketing, Retail Management, and Fashion Communication & Journalism). Our
profile of lecturers comprise of professionally trained experts
in the related industries from all over the world - USA, England,
Australia, France, Canada, Singapore and the Asian region.
They bring with them a wealth of knowledge and experience
gained from their own countries. All of them have at least
undergraduate or post-graduate degrees and years of professional
experience behind them.
What
qualification can I get from Raffles Design?
After three years of intensive vocational training, students will be awarded with a Bachelor Degree from a prestigious higher education partner in Australia.
Should they wish to exit after completing the second year, they will be awarded with an Advanced Diploma from Raffles College of Higher Education . We are pleased to advise that we have received the Singapore Quality Class Award for Private Education Organisations in 2004, ensuring that all our courses are registered and accredited with the appropriate bodies, including the Singapore Ministry Of Education (MOE). In 2005, we have also received the CaseTrust for Education Award for Private Education Organisations, which indicates we have been approved by The Consumer Association of Singapore Enterprise. This award highlights good schools that possess the foundation for good quality student welfare and business practices, instilling trust and confidence amongst both local and international students. This will create a win-win situation for the industry players to raise their standards of practice and for consumers to enjoy fair practices and ensure a good education experience while in Singapore.
Can
I pursue my university degree after my Advanced Diploma programme?
Raffles Design's diploma holders (2-year study)
can continue with a 3rd year of study to graduate with a Bachelor
of Design degree. This one-year degree programme
is offered to advanced diploma graduates in areas such as
Fashion Design, Interior Design, Graphic Design, Fashion
Marketing, Multimedia Design. These
degree programmes are awarded and validated by prestigious
universities that Raffles Design has agreements with.
What
are the pre-requisites to study at Raffles Design?
Advanced diploma programmes require a minimum
of 3 'O' levels, 5 'N' levels or a high school equivalent.
In India the student should have completed his 10th Std.
When
can I start my studies at Raffles Design?
There are 4 intakes within each academic year
- January, April, July and October. Each term is 3 months,
which allows students to start their studies throughout the
year at a time most suitable to their schedules. These intakes
also ensure that our graduates enter the workforce a four
separate times throughout the year.
Is
there a TOEFL* requirement?
No. However, students from non-English speaking
backgrounds are required to sit for an English test conducted
by Raffles Design on their general English proficiency. If
necessary, students are required to take the ESL** programme
(conducted in-house). Our ESL programme is an intensive course
that covers a period of 3 months, or 12 weeks, with a total
of 40 contact hours.

Does

No, the school does not provide boarding facilities.
However, we can assist and recommend the most convenient boarding
options at affordable rates to students looking for accommodation.
Does
Raffles Design offer internships with business organisations?
Yes, our programmes include placements of students
in relevant companies where they are given the opportunity
to gain hands-on experience and enhance their portfolios and
resumes. During their work attachment, students establish
good ties with these companies and very often, receive job
offers upon their graduation.
