In an environment where the dominant medium of communication is Putonghua, it is certainly a difficult task to master the English language. However, the difficulty can be easily overcome if one has the determination and initiative to excel.

As a Malaysian of Chinese descent, my experience in learning the language in Malaysia is, I believe, helpful and useful in teaching the students here.

Learning English in a monolingual community demands creativity and ingenuity which I believe many of the students here possess. To be a fluent English speaker, you must pay equal attention to reading, writing, speaking and listening in English. Look around you, there are ample facilities and resources that will help you achieve your goals.
