On January 14, 2010, with Portuguese lecturer José Pombo and Chinese lecturer Gavin Sun guiding, 16 senior students who are specializing in our college’s product design program, made a field trip to a Wal-Mart supermarket. The trip was part of the curriculum of the course, Human Factors in Product Design.

The goal was to help students understand human factors in good product design. An understanding of such issues will enhance students’ ability to foresee problems and design around them, so that in the real world, the products will be useable and practical.
